Weight loss when busy can be hard, but it doesn’t need to be.

No doubt about it—losing weight requires a time commitment. But if you’re like most of us, the daily stresses of everyday life may have you wondering how you’re going to find that time.

If this sounds like you, don’t throw up your hands in dismay just yet; there are some smart strategies for making a healthy weight loss journey doable, no matter how swamped you are. Why not let Ideal Protein be your partner in that weight loss journey? Not only does our protocol take some of the guesswork and food preparation time out of the equation, our experienced coaches have been where you are, and can offer you tips and tricks to make it easier. Here are a few to get you started, even if you’re crazy busy:

1. Don’t skip meals

Even when you are rushed, skipping meals is a bad idea since it encourages overeating or unhealthy food choices. If you know you’ll have an especially busy day, plan to take a healthy snack or two with you. An Ideal Protein bar, bag of crisps, or a ready-serve drink are perfect choices for keeping hunger at bay.

2. Communication is key

Clue in your family that you’re making changes in your eating habits and enlist their help. This way, they can share meal planning and prep with you, saving time and allowing everyone to enjoy healthier meals.

3. Plan in advance to save time

Pick a time to plan out your meals for the following week. First, make a comprehensive grocery list with everything you’ll need (this will also help you avoid unnecessary trips to the store). Once you’re stocked up, think about how you can make meal prep time more efficient. For example, while preparing dinner, chop extra veggies for snacks, cook a couple of extra chicken breasts for a future dinner, or wash and prep lettuce for the following day’s lunch. If you’re on the Protocol, don’t forget to plan your Ideal Protein meals, drinks, and snacks for the week to ensure you have your favorites on-hand.

4. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Make sure you drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Fill your water bottle regularly and keep it with you to see how much you drink throughout the day. If you find plain water boring, try adding a squirt of lemon juice or one of Ideal Protein’s Flavored Water Enhancers to kick up the flavor.

5. Take opportunities to be active

Activity positively affects your heart health and how your body functions. It even relieves stress! Easy ways to get moving on busy days including taking the stairs, parking at the back of the lot so you’ll walk more, turning on music to dance around the room, getting up from the computer and stretching, walking the dog, or giving those garden plants some attention.

6. Get enough sleep

When the to-do list is a mile long, it may be tempting to stay up later to get more done. However, selling yourself short on sleep can affect your energy and leave you vulnerable to unhealthy food triggers that may impede your weight loss progress.
